Richard, the main hero is a positive role model, he always tries to do the right thing. With the introduction of Cara in the first season's finale the show matures a bit, forcing the characters to grow as well.
In season 1 the line between good and evil is quite clear, though the heroes have to face a few tough decisions. It has some really well written episodes and the actors can give really powerful performances.
